Wherever you go, be aware that many restaurants in Florence (and elsewhere in Italy) may only serve one mid-day meal on Christmas day, generally from noon/1:00 pm until 3:00 or so. Many will not be serving an evening meal although take out places, pizza places, etc., may be serving later in the day. Restaurants fill up for the Christmas day meal so it is very wise to make a reservation at least a couple of days in advance. Finally, the day after Christmas is also a holiday throughout much of Italy and you might well want to make reservations for your meals on that day, too.
