Florence Hotel Davanzati

I stayed at the Hotel Davanzati http://www.hoteldavanzati.it/wp/?page_id=138 for five nights in June 2016. I had never been to Italy prior to this. Travelling alone I booked the single room. It was much roomier than my hotels in London and Paris. The bathroom had lots of room (shower only) plus bidet. Fridge, safe and I borrowed the iron from the front desk along with a small ironing board he had ready to go. Oh right I should have started with the staff. Forgive me but I'm horrible with names. I had a wonderful check in experience, very welcoming and I felt "settled" immediately. Breakfast ladies were sweet and charming.
What I love about the hotel:
The staff are very friendly and I felt they not only cared about my stay but also wanted my vacation to be memorable. They gave great advice on how to plan my day.

The restaurant on the same side of the street at the corner was very good. Good pizza and mmm now I can't remember what else I ate there lol. They also do carry out pizza which was nice on my last night to have in my room while packing.
There is a sleep machine in each room. I didn't need or use it but I thought that was cool.

My room faced the street and it was quiet at night. A/C worked fine.
They have a nightly happy hour that was popular. Everyone chats and there is a bar to serve complimentary prosecco or red wine, both were nice. Travelling solo I looked forward to this opportunity and met some great travellers (almost all had a RS book)
For breakfast there were good Italian meats and cheese with bread or buns. Sweet pastries were on a warmer (mmmm) yogurts and cereals, fresh fruit, jams and nutella and hard boiled eggs.
While checking out they called my next hotel to arrange a taxi to meet me at the train which I truly appreciated.
I liked the location. Everything is within walking distance except the piazza de Michelangelo (must see).
I hope to visit again :)
Grazie

We stayed there several years ago and loved it. Fabrizio was amazing. I asked him where a wine store was as I had been looking for a particular wine from Apulia and I was having a very hard time finding it. He asked which wine and offered to phone the wine store and inquire for me. Well little did he know what a challenge it was to become...the next day he phoned every wine shop in Florence to no avail. Apparently, despite being the largest wine producing region in Italy, Apulia keeps much of its wine to its self!

We can not wait to return!
