Traveling in October and looking for a hotel near the train station and also car rental info.
Thanks
I stayed at Hotel Alba Palace for 5 nights in late February 2018.. The hotel was a short walk from the train station, had very nice accommodations and very helpful staff who gave us restaurant recommendations off the tourist track. I’ve recommended this hotel to others, and they all enjoyed.
I took a cab for 2 miles from the train station to the Hertz location on Sansovino.
They gave me a map to get me out of town without getting near the center city ZTR's. The car can be turned in at the airport, and you can catch a bus back into the center city if you're staying longer.
It's been awhile since we have been to Florence, so I'll pass on hotel recommendations. The hotel we stayed at was around the corner from the McDonalds where all the buses line up. And the price has gone up to the mid-$200's.
I think we rented from the Avis on Borgo Ognissanti. There are several rental agencies on the same block. We walked from Santa Maria Novella train station. They also give you a map on how to make it our of Florence while avoiding the ZTLs. Was slightly more complicated bring it back to drop it off, but we made it ok.
We always get our cars in Florence on Borgo Ognosanti too . Return there as well. Easy access to Autostrada.
