Favorite Restaurant in Varenna?

Many years ago my husband and I had a wonderful dinner at il cavatappi.

We have enjoyed several dinners at Ristorante La Vista at Albergo Milano. The setting on the deck is lovely and romantic. You can see the menu here:

We like it so much we have not tried elsewhere for dinner. But we did have the cooking class and lunch at Il Caminetto and that was fun as well as informative. And delicious. I don’t know what their dinner is like, however.

Ristorante La Vista is the best.

I third the vote for La Vista at Albergo Milano. Dining on the terrace overlooking the lake would be a wonderful anniversary celebration. Make reservations ahead of time and ask for a table by the water. If I remember correctly, they are closed for dinner on Tuesdays. You can check the link above. If the weather is a bit cool, they provide blankets. We ate there several times during our stay, and always got the 3 course dinner.

I agree, the La Vista is excellent. We also found a sidewalk restaurant on the main square, it is to the right if your standing on the church steps, and we had an really nice meal there one evening. I would not eat at the open air restaurants down by the lake shore in the main part of town, while picturesque the food was terrible and I can honestly say probably the only bad meal we ever had in Italy. They do have a couple of gelato places that are good along the lake shore.

We enjoyed Osteria Quatro Pass. Delicious food and charming atmosphere. No lake view, so maybe not a choice for an anniversary dinner, but well worth a visit.
