Hi, traveling next month to Orvieto and Lucca and wondering which places you enjoyed for lunch or dinner. Thanks!
In Orvieto, La Palomba (The Dove). Besides the good food and local clientele, there's a (small) picture of Rick Steves in the dining room.
Best meal of our 3 week spring vacation to Italy was at Osteria di Pasquale in Lucca. Reservations are a must. Plan on a long enjoyable meal. Ask your server for recommendations. Amazing!
Orvieto:
Labirinto Di Adriano (our favorite during our 4 night stay)
Also:
Trattoria la Palomba
Il Malandrino Bistrot
La Pergola
Our dinner in Orvieto was our best meal in Italy. It was at Antico Bucchero: https://www.orvietoviva.com/en/antico-bucchero/
I had wild boar stew and salad, and DH had lamb chops and tiramisu for dessert.
Thanks so much!
In Orvieto, with a Cingale (wild boar) head mounted outside the door, fabulous lunch at L’Oste del Re.
In Lucca, a restaurant so good that we had dinner there twice during our stay, is Osteria San Giorgio.
Really superior gelato in Lucca was at Gelati di Piero.
In Orvieto, I had what may have been the best carbonara of my life at Bistro Miranda. It was truly exceptional. The next night I went back and thoroughly enjoyed my watermelon and feta salad, but the pasta I tried wasn’t as memorable as the carbonara. My server recommended a glass of Battito Decugnano and chefskiss!
In Orvieto, one of our entire family’s favorite meals was Trattoria La Grotta. They had very good gluten-free pasta for me which was lovely!
