Traveling with 2 couples, in our 60's; looking for a Farmhouse B&B type experience in the Tuscan region. What do you recommend. Travel will beginning of October 2025.
I'm doing a lot of reading for a trip next year to the coast and Maremma. If you let me know the part of Tuscany you are interested in, and a general price range, I could share the places I've found the might fit..
We are starting in Venice for a few days then will rent a car. We are open to the areas in Tuscany, however, we have already done Florence and don't feel the need to go back. We have been to Siena and Assisi and would not mind a day trip back to those places. I think Montepulcino, Maremma sounds intriguing. Volterra. Would like to visit Abbey of San Galgano in Montesiepi. Again, we are open. We are open to lodging in apartment type setting with 2 beds/baths and mixing with traveling to other locations to hotel lodging.
We have stayed three times at the Palazzo a Merse - the closest town (with grocery store, laundry, bars and restaurants) is Rosia, about 15 min away, and it's a reasonable drive from Siena. Absolutely wonderful owners/hosts (two sisters and their families), great food (breakfast is optional), well-equipped kitchens, nice options for accommodations, reasonably priced, quiet, beautiful grounds with an above-ground pool, and very convenient to San Galgano, Montepulciano, Siena, Volterra, etc. I highly recommend it. https://www.palazzomerse.it/en/
