Eating in Rome

We are going to be in Rome in Late April and would like to take a survey as to which restaurants are the best.
I know this is per taste and very subjective.
Just curious.
Thank-you for future suggestions and past experiences.

Do a food crawl with Gourmetaly--you'll visit 6 different restaurants/eateries and you'll want to return to them again and again. My sister and I did this last October and wished that we had gone on tour earlier on our visit so as to revisit each place. Wonderful, authentic food off the tourist grid.

Enoteca Corsi was recommended by Rick Steves and Rachel Ray, and they were right. Arrived just before they opened, they offered us a table, fresh baked bread (which you could see being baked at the counter), and some house wine while they were still setting up and feeding the staff. There are two dining areas that fill up fast with locals and tourists who know. Very friendly staff and the food was great, better than the so called 4-Star we ate dinner at the previous night. If and when I visit Rome again, this place will be a must to return to. Perfect location, visit the Pantheon and the Basilica di Santa Maria Sopra Minerva in the morning and two blocks around the corner stop off at Enoteca Corsi for lunch / October 2014

Trattoria del Pollarolo: Was a surprise find while out walking at night and decided to stop in. Nice restaurant, attentive staff and full of locals. Seemed to be the only foreigners in the place. Enjoyed the house wine and food, especially the spicy salami pizza, my favorite. Others around us had pasta dishes, large portions. Just down the street from Piazza del Popolo / October 2014

I used the app "Eat Rome" by Elizabeth Minchilli and found it very useful. Enjoy!

If it's the same Trattoria del Pollarolo that Rick recommends in his guidebook, we give that a second, and very large thumbs up. The thing is that there is no menu. For $20 Euro, you get a full multi-course meal -- whatever the proprietess is cooking that day. It includes wine too. Because there is no ordering, it is one of the most efficient meals we have ever had in Europe (but you can stay and linger as long as you like too). A fantastic value, and DELICIOUS.

Our 17 day Italy itinerary in 2013 for our 10th anniversary necessitated us splitting up our time in Rome to bookend a Tuscan bicycle tour, so we actually at here twice we loved it so much the first first time. I really cannot recommend this place enough.

Definitely check out this place, Ristorante Maccheroni: http://www.ristorantemaccheroni.com/ They serve some of the best pasta in Rome. The atmosphere is great and you can see the chefs cooking in an open kitchen behind a glass screen. The place always gets super busy but the service is really quick and worth any wait, do don't be put off if there's a line but maybe best to make a reservation.
Also check out this place:http://www.tazzadorocoffeeshop.com/ for great italian coffee and your morning pastries. Very popular with locals for their morning/afternoon/evening coffee! It's just in front of the Pantheon. Small tip though: order and pay for your coffees at the counter first, and then take your ticket to the bar where they'll serve you.
Have the best trip!
