Flying out early morning from Marco Polo. Any recommendations for where to stay? Not looking for anything fancy. Is it best to stay Mestre or Piazzale Roma? Any specific lodging recommendations? Looking to make for an easy morning commute from hotel to airport.

what time is your early morning flight and where is hotel in venice? how many people?
few times we have reserved a private water taxi (motoscafivenezia.com). they pick you up near hotel and takes you straight to airport.

look at venice airport buses (venezia express), what time they leave piazzale roma,
taxis at piazzale roma to take you to airport, make sure they do have at that hour
booking.com/ marco polo airport
look at what is available and if they have shuttles to airport, probably will charge you.
your decision what suits your fancy, what is easy for you and add the cost of transportation & hotel, to get you there. good luck

There is a Marriott courtyard five minutes from the Venice airport. They have a shuttle, but don't know the hours of operation. The distance isn't walkable. There are also taxis.
Perhaps spend your last evening having dinner in Venice, say good-bye to this magical city, then go to the airport hotel at bedtime?

We stayed at the Best Western Titian Inn Hotel Venice Airport the night before our flight out. There's a shuttle, and they start serving the included breakfast very, very early.
