Dolomites family lodging

Hello! We are looking at a summer trip to the Dolomites, likely staying in Ortisei or surrounding areas. I'd love suggestions for affordable accommodations for a family of 4. I'm hoping to find something under $400 per night ($300 would be better!). Not looking for a resort or wellness retreat, and we don't need anything fancy. In an ideal world it would be an apartment-style place, but a hotel/B&B is fine too.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hi,

Our trip is in August 2026, a peak season. I contacted a few places, most said they have minimum required stay for a week or Sunday arrival. Bnb Villa Angelino is okay with less than a week, but you have to arrive on Sunday.

We'll stay for 5 nights in Ortisei. I booked Garni Snaltnerhof at the center for Ortisei. I think it was a little over EUR300/night This is for a double room.
Someone from Tripadvisor suggested this garni to me.
We will not have a car, so central location is a must. If you have a car, there will be more options outside Ortisei.

There is another thread under Italy that I posted the place we stayed while in Ortisei this year. Several others posted as well. My place is a two star hotel where we rented a small apartment. There is a larger one with two bedrooms there as well. We liked it a lot.

The Dolomites isn't known for being a budget destination. By family of four, do you mean 2 adults + 2 young kids or 4 adults? If it's the latter, then a room for less than $400/night is not easy. Also, I strongly suggest you pin down your lodging choice before the end of 2025 or by Jan 2026. Europeans often book their summer vacations one full year in advance. In addition, many hotels or apartments keep their rooms available for their regulars.

My family of 3 stayed in one Triple Room
at Hotel Antares in Selva for around $350 per night. It was more affordable than other options in the area and it didn’t have a 5-night minimum stay requirement. We enjoyed our stay there. It has family rooms .

Thank you all for these suggestions so far!

Barkinpark, we’re 2 adults and 2 teens. So really need at least 3 beds but beyond that we’re not picky. I definitely hope to pin down lodging soon, though it seems some booking calendars are not open for the summer yet.

hey hey unc
few other options to think about:
do you have whatsapp? call place (hotel/apt) during their time zone & working hours
email them if you can book it directly, may get a better price ;D
mentioned earlier, 5-7 day minimum stay, you may find that during summertime. you've got it together,
flights booked? how multi-city: venice (spend 3/4 nights, get car to dolomites or train to verona get car, drive dolomites, back down to lake garda - funtimes/relax, return car train to milan) flight home. 2 cents for some thoughts😁

Thanks princesspurple! We have a max of 11 nights to work with

Seems to work best flying into Milan and out of Venice based on flight times. I strongly prefer to stay in the city we’re flying out of to minimize the inefficiency of doubling back… so we’ll stay in Venice for a few days at the end of the trip before flying out.

Started typing more about itinerary but that feels best for the main forum, so I’ll move that over there!

I feel like your trip is almost similar to mine. We fly in and out Venice and will start our trip in Venice for 5 nights before going to the Dolomites.
I initially wanted to stay 8 nights in Ortisei, but decided to split 3 nights in Santa Maddalena and 5 in Ortisei.
Anyway, during my research, I found this apartments, called Villa Prinoth. Their price for high season is between EUR 500 to 1500 for a week stay, depending on the size. They have apt for 4 to 6 ppl.
It has 4.8 rating in Google. I thought the price is great, considering Ortisei is expensive.
If you have 7 nights, that might work?

Holly, thank you! We only have 11 nights for this trip and are also visiting Lake Garda, so we unfortunately don’t have a week in one place. But I’ll look into this anyway!
