We were hoping to have a nice dinner before catching a show at 8 pm in Venice. But we're struggling with timing since many of the nicer restaurants open for dinner at 7. Is there a work around?
What area of Venice are you staying?
Ask your hotel for a recommendation. Our Venice hotel calls it restaurants with earlier "American hours", as late eating isn't an American way, and there are always jet lagged folks whose eating schedules are off-kilter .
Enjoy this magical city
Thanks for your reply. We are staying at Hotel Metropol near St. Mark's. Concierge has assured us that we will not go hungry!
You won’t go hungry but do understand eating late is a way of life in Italy.
An option is to spend the early evening at a cicchetti place and fill up on snacks before the show. There are also plenty pizzerias in Venice you can get in and out quickly. Just tell the concierge you don't want a formal restaurant, at least for that night.
My favorite hotel, the Bisanzio, is just down the calle from the Metropole.
Another option is to have your main meal at lunch instead of in the evening.
All great suggestions. Thanks everyone!
