Deciding between two

Hello!
I am deciding between two hotels for our stay in Florence for our family of 4 (our kids are two young adults - ages 20 & 21).
1) An executive suite at the San Firenze Suites & Spa located right in the middle of everything with amazing views - 869 Euro ($1200 Cdn) per night = $2400 total for our two nights. Queen bed for us and two sleeper couches for the kids.
2) Fornace Suite - a beautiful two-story BnB with a king on the main and two singles upstairs, but a good 10 minute drive outside of the city centre (south of the Arno River) but close to Piazzale Michaelangelo. Half the price at 420 euro per night ($600 Cdn) or $1200 total.

$600 per night is what we have been paying on average for our stays in bigger cities around Europe for our family of 4 ($300 per room, if separate rooms). I am having a difficult time justifying paying double this time but my husband says we should spoil ourselves for once, but is it worth it? Would love to hear your opinions on this. Needing help to decide.

Both places offer free breakfast and have rave reviews.
Thanks!

You might get more responses if you put your question in the regular Italy forum. This one is more for reviews of hotels.

If you don't feel the need for cooking and laundry facilities, I would get two separate rooms at one of the places recommended in Rick's book-there are many that are centrally located and I think much less expensive than 400 Euros per night per room. Florence is a very walkable city and I would want to stay where I could walk everywhere, not to mention where would you park a car?

Since you're a family traveling together I would look for an Airbnb. I have nothing to do with the company, but have stayed in a wonder Airbnb in Florence, for way less money than your thinking of spending on just bedrooms. It is nice to have a kitchen/living room to hang out in the morning while everyone is taking their showers and getting ready to head out. J
