Convenient hotel in Florence

We're going to be in Florence in May and want an accommodation with walking distance from train station and other sights. We've always stayed in Hotel Katti, and it's not available. Other suggestions?

Also on Via Faenza, Hotel Accademia is another 3-star hotel. Housed in a 14th century former palazzo without elevator, small breakfast room, nicely updated rooms. Just stayed there in late November; kind, helpful, friendly staff.

hey hey Gwen
booking.com, tripadvisor.com, trivago.com with your dates and see what's available. how many is "we", all adults or any kids, budget, what you want & hope for in amenties (A/C, elevator/lift, bed size, cancellation policies.
when you find something email direct to hotel what they have, is it more or less to book thru them? good luck

We stayed at Hotel Principe which is close to the train station, but I would steer clear of it. Poor customer service; HVAC system that did not work well; not worth the price point that they charged.

In Florence, we have stayed twice at Hotel il Bargellino on Via Guelfa. It is an easy walk from the train station and many of the typical tourist spots in Florence. You will need to check with them about having a room with a/c and an en-suite, as they do have accommodations without these amenities. I reach out directly to them (typically Carmel, a Boston native) via email which is on their website. She will let you know what type of accommodations they have available for your specific dates. I will advise that most of their rooms are on the 2nd floor with a flight of stairs (she will tell you exactly how many steps if you ask), and there is no elevator. You typically have to take your own luggage up the stairs.

We stayed at Hotel Spadai in October and loved it. It was an easy walk from the train station, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean, comfortable and good sized (for a European hotel), and they have a nice, cozy bar. It was a short walk to the Duomo square and everything we wanted to see in Florence. I booked directly through the hotel (vs a 3rd party site) and got a good rate considering the location, quality of the hotel and the very good breakfast buffet.

Thank you all . . . these sound like great options . . . will try to book this afternoon directly using their email. I will let you know what happens. Clearly, I should have started this earlier. I'm now on a Viking cruise around S. America. Thankfully we have some cruising days that allow me to plan our Italian trip. Life is good.

I stayed two nights at Hotel Adler Cavalieri in 2022 and liked it.
Very clean, lovely staff, decent breakfast and walking distance, about 6 minutes, from SMN station.
I had a tiny single room, but it was perfect for just me.
It’s on Via Della Scala.
