Compare two hotels in Rome

We currently have reservations for two hotels and need to decide which will be best:
- Villa Riari Garden in Trastevere - probably quieter; and Hotel Pantheon very near the Pantheon - more convenient location for major sights but maybe noiser
Any opinions? Thank you.

What is important to you? I personally would opt for the Pantheon location. However, we always stay in the Termini area.

I've stayed at the Hotel Lancelot for 10 years now. Can't beat the hospitality, amenities and location. It's in the Celio district 10 min from the Colosseum and you'll find that it's a nice quiet neighborhood with many eateries nearby. It's too busy near the Pantheon for me, and Ive been to Rome quite a few times now. Its also nice staying in Trastevere but don't expect it to be quiet.

I love the pantheon area but I would not stay in a hotel that's so close to the pantheon. The area of Trastevere that your other hotel is in looks like it's a bit away from the nightlife area, and I like that area for the evening because it's got a lot of great restaurants. And you're just across the bridge from the pantheon, etc. So I would go with that one!

I would definitely choose the Hotel Pantheon. Our favorite location of all of the ones we’ve stayed was near the Pantheon. It’s so fun to go nearby to the Pantheon and see it each evening lit up - my favorite time to see it and enjoy the ambiance. If you’re worried about noise, just ask for an inner courtyard room. We slept very well there, and we were in a “noisy area”.

If you like Tiramisu, go to Mr. 100 Tiramisu at Via dei Sediari, 11/12, 00186 Rome. It’s very close to the Pantheon. We like to get the 3-sampler plate. Yum!!

Both those areas are amazing, but the Pantheon is in the heart of "downtown" within a shorter walking distance of many sites. I would check how quiet the hotel & rooms are, we've stayed nearby with triple glazed windows, silent interiors though in a busy spot. Personally, Trastevere wouldn't be my choice because it's a bit of a schlep to the center of town & is very busy in the evenings. Depending on the room & soundproofing, Villa Riari Garden in Trastevere might actually be noisier, I would check the reviews.

Another vote for Lancelot, or that neighborhood. Trastevere was nice but it didn't seem that convenient for public transportation. It is a lovely area, though.

In regards to "noisy" areas". We always bring earplugs.

I Like the area around the Pantheon.
I walk everywhere from there (except for the time I went to EUR)
Colosseum area, Vatican City, Trastevere, everywhere I've gone.
Besides the EUR excursion, I've used "other-than-my-feet" only going to and from the the airport/ Roma Termini.

Coming in again for Pantheon. You can't beat city center in Rome. Also it's not like that noisy lol.

I would go with the Pantheon one, though for our upcoming stay in June we are near Termini. It just works out better for our sightseeing agenda.

Another vote for Hotel Pantheon! we stayed in an apartment close to the Pantheon (on the other side of the plaza, close to the Coop supermarket) and despite the massive crowds right near the Pantheon, the side street was remarkably quiet and you can't beat the location. Read the reviews carefully to determine if noise is truly a problem for folks who have stayed there.

Going to Rome on the 6th of September and the Hotel Lancelot doesn't have availability - any other suggestions as that hotel was perfect
