I want to put in a plug for the Casa Il Rosario in Rome where I've stayed a number of times over the past 5 years. Its location on Via Sant'Agata dei Goti is perfect for sightseeing. The Cavour metro stop is within a couple blocks and the Colosseum is within sight from the rooftop terrace. Restaurants abound in the area. In addition to the rooftop terrace (where I love to hang out and relax), there's also a nice garden in the center of the property. Pre-COVID, a simple breakfast was served (bread, coffee, granola, yogurt, juice). On my last visit in December/January (2021-22), that service had been suspended, but I was told that it was likely to resume in the spring (2022). Rooms are simply-furnished, but comfortable. Most have bathrooms, although some singles have hall baths. The staff is kind and very accommodating. The Casa is operated by a Spanish-speaking Dominican order, but the front desk is staffed by individuals who speak a number of languages.
