We stayed at Casa Grant in October 2015. We chose it because of it's proximity to the to the ferry terminal, although it was a little further out from other hotels (opened in August 2015). When we first got there, we were a little shocked by look of the neighborhood, but it turned out to be a sweet place. The hosts, Boris and Licca were very caring and hospitable. The room was large, clean, and a bottle of wine was awaiting us. That evening, instead of heading back to central Palermo, we decided to have dinner in the neighborhood. This turned out to be a delightful experience of typical Sicilian life. As we sat in the small square, having a beer, we watched the children play, Sicilians return from work, and the local street vendors, including a man grilling a 3 foot fish in the square. We had dinner at Piccolo Napoli, where the service was also excellent, moderately priced, and where we were allowed to pick which fresh fish we wanted for dinner. It had been a hard day of dodging cars in the busy city of Palermo, so we were lucky to find refuge in this neighborhood and at Casa Grant.
