First time visiting Rome and trying to decide between 2 hotels: Hotel Smeraldo and Hotel Nazionale
We are a family of 4 (all adults). I currently have 2 rooms booked at the Nazionale and 1 suite booked at Smeraldo. I am looking for feedback on centrally located, quality of hotels, breakfast etc. Would love feedback. Thank you!

Our family of 11…6 adults 5 kids stayed at Hotel Smeraldo last July. We all say our favorite! The family room….like a 2 bdr 2 bth appt! Then 2 of us booked their more compact double rooms…they were clean, cozy and fine for us, a couple..and with nice sized bathrooms. Wonderful friendly staff, awesome breakfast and perfect location to most all sights…very walkable! Lovely old building….Situated on cobbled back street tucked into neighborhood with cafe’s and gelato. Highly recommend!

I love the Hotel Smeraldo - the staff are great and super helpful, the breakfasts are good, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the location is an easy walk from nearly everything. They have a nice rooftop lounge/bar area as well, plus one of the best take-out pizza places just across the street (with an awesome gelato place next to that). You won't go wrong if you stay there!

I have stayed at the Hotel Smeraldo and join the chorus that it is a great place to stay. Grocery is about 1 block away. Bus is about 4 blocks as is taxi stand. I walked to many of the major locations.
I was glad that I had a taxi from the airport to the hotel. It might have been a bit hard to find the first time there.

If I hadn't heard the chatter of a large German tour group in the breakfast room of Smeraldo, I would swear the hotel must be solely comprised of RS people. Add my vote, too. The location and staff were both great.

I prefer the location of Hotel Nazionale and am staying there in May, but they both have a high rating on Booking.com.
