Bologna,Italy

We are hoping to spend a week in Bologna Italy, using it as hub for us to visit smaller towns by train. Surprised to see that Rick Steves barely has a page devoted to Bologna.
We are looking for a Hotel in the quieter sections of Santo Stefano and Porta San Mamolo.
We are looking for a place to call home and want to get it right especially if we are looking at 6 nights. Any thoughts here?

Hi Lois. I cannot recommend a hotel in those areas but for guidebooks, I found the Rough Guide Bologna very useful. It included a number of nearby cities for day trips. I also used the Bradt guide to Emilia Romagna when I spent a week in Bologna. If you search this forum for Bologna, you will find a number of suggestions on hotels and restaurants.
