We will be in Monterosso this September on my birthday and I would love to find a great restaurant with a view of the water. Does anyone have any suggestions of great restaurants? It's my 65th, so I want something special!

Belvedere Restaurant is right on the beach and the food is excellent but you should make reservations because this place is popular! Best pesto pasta on the entire planet and the ocean is 50 feet away.

I second the Belvedere recommendation. The food is excellent. When you make reservations, let them know it is your birthday and you want a view of the water. When we went, our hotel owner made sure that we were outside and had the best view of the ocean. If you don’t specify, they may put you at an inside table if they are busy.

We stayed at Hotel Porta Roca and ate dinner there several times on the terrace overlooking the sea. The food and setting were both fabulous. Restaurant is named La Terrazza.

Even though I suggest the Belvedere above we were staying at the Porta Roca and I agree with Suki that would be a nice place for a more upscale birthday dinner.

So...we are back from Italy and I'm going through Italian food withdrawal!! We ended up going to Manarola on my birthday and eating a great lunch at Trattoria Billy. The view was amazing and we highly recc. the hike up to the restaurant. As we were waiting at the top of the steep steps for a table, the waiter brought all of us a glass of prosecco! It was a great place to celebrate my birthday.
