We'll be in Sorrento late May 2019. What are the best places to stay? Both hotels and B&B. There will be 3 adults. Thank you!
Check out Hotel Antiche Mura. Friendly, family owned with superb breakfast. Good location too.
Check out Hotel Antiche Mura
Ditto that. Had a great stay there.
michelle, does "best" mean cheapest? It is already getting late to book Sorrento for May. You should prepare at least six choices, because you will not get your first. One reason we ended with the luxurious and expensive, cliffside-bay-view Hotel Ambasciatori was that it was my fifth choice for the last week of May. But we could afford it, and we loved the icy air conditioning and million-dollar view. Vesuvius from the bed, every morning. Maybe that's why I'm so negative about wasting time to climb Vesuvius!
Edit: Ambasciatori is part of a lightly associated group of five (5?) luxury cliffside hotels in Sorrento. We didn't have time to visit the others, but there are some shared access features available, I think.
The two hotels above are wonderful, but if you need more, we stayed at Hotel Minerva on our last trip.
We could walk into town on the sidewalk.
We had killer views from the expansive balcony.
The breakfasts were huge.
The staff walked us down to show us which bus to take to travel to the dock for the ferry to Capri.
Can't say enough good things about hotel Antiche Mura!
Another vote for the Hotel Antiche Mura! Incredible staff, convenient location not too far from the station so no taxis necessary, outrageous breakfast.
We really enjoyed Hotel Mignon. Also family run, delicious breakfasts and a charming garden to enjoy some down time with our travel companions after a long day of touring.
The Hotel Bristol was amazing! The views were spectacular and they have a wonderful restaurant. It's a little more expensive than most but so worth it!!!
We used the Tasso Suites in summer of 2014. Some rooms had a small kitchen & fridge. It's in city center not too far from the train station. They provided vouchers for breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Good AC and it has a small lift. I liked it and would stay there again.
We enjoyed Hotel Mignon last May while we were in Sorrento on our RS South of Italy tour.
I vote for Grand Hotel De La Ville and Parco dei Principi :) both beautifully located
We had initially booked in antiche mura, but had to,postpone our trip,to late May. By then antiche mura got super expensive, have now booked at palazzo Tasso hotel which is next to antiche mura. Antiche mura was our first choice but too expensive in late May
Thanks for all of the replies. Very helpful!
We stayed at Casa Astarita. It was on the main drag which got closed down to traffic after7 pm. Several restaurants in the area. Breakfast was included unless you are there on Sunday if I remember correctly. I would go back there. Irish pub across the street.
I am another that votes for Hotel Minerva, it was incredible. The view was amazing and sitting on the terrace for breakfast or dinner and watching the sunrise or set was unforgettable. Nello helped me make arrangements for a personal driver and also a Capri tour and also offered a suggested 45 min walk to some Roman ruins. I was there in October 2018 and just last week uploaded some unedited videos I shot with my drone from the hotel on my youtube channel "stevethepiper".
I vote for Hotel Minerva. It's a nice walk into town looking out over the Bay of Naples. The hotel itself has an amazing view from its patio. Breakfast was great and a big selection. It's a stunning location, and beyond that, if that isn't enough, the staff is wonderful. We found everyone to be very friendly and helpful. On any return trips to Sorrento this is our first choice.
Loved Hotel Mignon and returning this summer and staying there again! The service and breakfast in the garden was wonderful.
