This hotel has been in RS Book in the past. He took it out of current revision. It's currently run by dishonest people. They sold me a room with ZERO hot water charged my credit card full price on check in. The liar checks me in and speaks perfect English as he explains there rules. The next morning, when I realized that the hot water didn't work, he couldn't speak English. Refused to refund any money, zero. Skip this bad excuse for lodging. There very happy to screw you over, nobody wants to waste time and money on a hard earned vacation.
Did you contact your Credit Card company to dispute the charge?
Yes, I will when I return from vacation. Between the dishonest hotel staff and Hotels.com customer NO service, I've wasted a lot of vacation time already.
I was just about to go here on vacation, but I think I'll give it up..
Hi - Casa Santa Sofia Hotel was a great replacement Hotel. Very friendly staff with customer service training. Located in fun piazza with lots going on.
nowekonta23 / Don't give up on going to Rome! It's really good bang for your buck for a city in Europe. The advice about establishing rapport with a hotel is good advice. Contact the prospective hotel directly and ask questions.
I would recommend always looking beyond just booking.com for reviews. Compare comments from multiple sites to see commonalities. I e read that booking.com is supposed to be better than some sites, but I am leery of that.
Just read an article from Wa. Post that 30% + of reviews are fake, whether AI generated or scam companies selling fake reviews to merchants. Amazon, Google and Trip Advisor purportedly the worst offenders (no surprise). New rules proposed by FTC with fines up to $50k per review could apply.
You cannot leave a review on booking.com if you haven't stayed at the hotel (via a reservation made on booking.com). That doesn't mean all the reviews are perfect or reflect standards similar to yours, but there shouldn't be totally fake reviews to worry about.
