Assisi - Hotel and Activities Recommendations

For 2 days in Late May traveling with 3 teen boys.

I have stayed at La Pallotta. It's a small BNB. Old style bathroom where there is no separation between the shower and the rest of bathroom. So, make sure the metal cover is down on the t.p. before showering. Remove anything that you don't want to get wet. It's a clean, safe place. We will be staying there again. Go to booking.com. There are many good choices. If I remember correctly, there is a newer place called La Fortezza that is good for families. Activities : Assisi is small. It 's a good town to stroll and check out the churches. Use the free RS audio download and go on a lovely walking tour. This is a more sedate kind of place. You don't have to worry about teenagers. The teens may get a bit bored, but may also enjoy exploring the town on their own. This is where St. Francis and St. Clare are buried. It's pretty. Many church groups come here.

Walk around after dark, so pretty. Il Foro Romano is an excellent museum for the Roman ruins. Count the boars' heads in the shops.

If your trip has been busy, this is a good place for a quiet afternoon of recharging, maybe on a balcony with a book. If they like photography or sketching, it's great for that, too. If they really need to burn off energy, they can hike three miles uphill with 1,000-ft elevation gain to the Hermitage and then back down again.

Tricia,
Hotel Ideale - at the top end of town. Fantastic views, decent breakfast.

Trattoria Da Erminio - specializing in various meaty dishes prepared over embers a few feet from your table.

Just returned from Italy last week, but didn't make Assisi this trip.
Enjoy,
Gene

Visit the Eremo above the town of Assisi. It is in a pretty woodland setting, a chapel and has nice areas to walk or hike.

We loved our night and day in Assisi and wished we had planned another day. It was so charming and had our best pasta dish in Assisi. We stayed at Sorella Luna http://www.hotelsorellaluna.it/ We enjoyed it, it was clean, updated and centrally located 3 min. walk to Basilica of San Francesco. Enjoy!
