Stumbled across the Alla Conchiglia by chance. RS has a recommendation for this restaurant in his 2012 book but not in the Venice pocket guide and I second the recommendation. The wait staff were funny, knowledgeable, and expert at filleting a fish! The business card does not list an address but this is the website address:

For directions: from the Alilaguna San Z stop, cross directly to the calle directing you to the San Z church and the Carbainieri (sp) [police] station. At the first junction, take a (R), pass the little bar and Fontana Hotel. Continue along the calle to the bridge, the restaurant is the 2nd one after the bridge. It is about a 5-10 minute walk depending on your level of gawking at the church and the rest of the scenery.
