Air Rooms Rome

Hello Forum and avid travelers ~
I've never actually stayed at an Airport Hotel after a long flight - but I booked one in Rome at the Fiumicino - HELLO SKY right in the airport for on e night. The last thing I want to do id get off a long flight and try to find a taxi and drive 5 miles or so to a "who knows it" Hotel. But, of course, the Hello Sky is way over priced - it is worth it for one night? Do you actually get some sleep?
If you know of any clean and quaint hotels near the airport?
Please let me know

When does your plane arrive in Rome? What time of year? Unless you arrive in the winter after dark (and after the standard 3 pm check-in time) I am not sure I see the wisdom in this, worrying about "finding a taxi" is not really a concern.

Hi, thank you, good point. In April - but I also will be taking a train to Napoli the next day and the train station is right there.

Well that makes more sense, might want to add that tidbit to your first post...

What do reviews of this hotel say regarding "getting some sleep" and whatever other concerns you have? Surely the rooms are sound proofed - I have slept at Paris CDG many times and airport and plane noise has never been an issue, assuming that is your concern.

I’ve stayed overnight at Hotel Tiber in Fiumicino, at most a 10 min drive from the airport. Modern, comfortable hotel on a canal leading from the sea to the harbour. Lots of restaurants nearby as well as in the hotel, food was good. Cost appears to be way less than your current location. Hotel does offer a shuttle service.

Don't you have to go into Rome to the Termini train station to catch the train to Naples?

Have you done any research on this hotel? It appears to be one step above a pod hotel. If it's overpriced, you might as well pay a bit more and stay at one of the Hilton properties. Or the town of Fiumicino, as mentioned above.

Have you researched trains from Rome to Naples? Won't you have to get to Rome Termini anyway to catch the train? Or do you plan to take the early high speed train that goes directly to Naples from the airport?

What is your scheduled arrival time at FCO? Why not take the Leonardo Express to Termini and stay at a hotel near the station. There are a number of good ones near there.

We stayed at the Hello Sky hotel in Fiumicino airport this past June. The room was fine. It was quiet and we slept well. As you pointed out, it is over priced, however. We stayed there because we had an early morning flight and it is right in the terminal. It couldn't be more convenient. So it worked out well for us. I think if I had been arriving in Rome, rather than departing however, it would have been a different story. For me, the excitement of arriving in Italy would have been tempered by staying in a nondescript hotel room in the airport.

Staying at the airport is probably not the smartest move. It would work but why? Ed from Houston is correct. That the train to Termini -- lots of good hotels within a stone throw of Termini and then the next day you will have unlimited options for getting to Naples.
