I left a review on TripAdvisor, but wanted to also post here what a fabulous time we had staying at Rick's recommended Agriturismo la Crociona, which is right outside of Montalcino. First, you're staying at a working vineyard in Tuscany that makes some really good Brunello di Montalcino. You get to do a free tasting (regardless if you stay here or not) and then you can buy a couple bottles and drink them in the many beautifully landscaped public outdoor seating areas... by the pool, under the terrace... or you can even walk the paths around the grounds (with wine glass in hand if that's how you roll).
The apartment itself was perfect for us - two couples. We had two big bedrooms and two big full bathrooms. The fully stocked kitchen with oven/stove/fridge made it so we didn't have to go out to eat at all. We bought groceries at the Coop in Montalcino and cooked the whole time. It was marvelous.
As if it couldn't get any better, the family who owns the vineyard and apartments is a delight! They are helpful, welcoming, and (if you prefer it) stay out of your way.
