Agriturismi

We will finish a 17 day Tour of Italy in Rome on Oct 10. We wanted to stay outside Rome(1-2hrs) in an Agriurismi for a couple nights for an authentic experience. Any suggestion on how to find one?

Try this site and search in Lazio (region Rome is in) and maybe also look at Umbria as Orvieto is a viability, perhaps.

Will you have a car?

FYI, one unit is an agriturismo, two or more are agriturismi.

Suggest you put your question in Destinations under Italy instead of in the review section. You should get more responses.

Any recommendations for a Agriturismo in the Lazio region or Umbria? We would love it to include a cooking class. We will not have a car, so we would need to get there from Rome by train. We enjoy hiking, walking and biking. We are looking at 3 days in early Oct.

Joyce, since you did also post your question under the Italy heading, you’ll see my response there. It does involve southwestern Tuscany, not actually Lazio or Umbria, but doesn’t absolutely require a car. Actually, we rented a car in Donoratico at the train station … they dropped it off as we arrived by train, and picked it back up at the station as we were leaving.

Umbria wouldn’t provide easy beach access, if that’s on your list. But in 2021 we stayed at an agriturismo that absolutely does need a car - in the hills west of Spoleto, a wonderful hilltown worth a visit, and near other hill towns, including Assisi. At the Agriturismo Santa Caterina, Gaetano and Maria speak some English - theirs is better than my Italian! Maria fixed our breakfast and dinner every night, from what they produce on their farm: https://agrisantacaterina.it/

And here’s that Tuscany agriturismo again, owned and run by Chicca: We’ve stayed twice in one of the two apartments above Chicca’s Casa Toscana home in Castagneto Carducci, among her olive trees and vegetable and herb gardens. Each has a clothes washing machine, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and guests are welcome to harvest from the garden. Trains from Rome, with one connection, arrive at Donoratico, 3 miles away. Donoratico sits right on the coast of southern Tuscany with a fine beach, and Super Tuscan wineries in the Bolgheri region are just down the road.
She does cooking classes and wine tours, too.
