Can anyone recommend cheap and cheerful accom (apartment style or room in a shared house or similar where I can cook and prepare food) for myself and teenage daughter in August. for 6 nighs. Not sure exactly where to base our selves, possibly Sorrento. Needs to have Air Con. Swimming pool would be grat but not essential .

It's a busy month, so you have to cast a wide net to find availability for your dates. Rick's book lists several budget hotels in the center of Sorrento, for instance, conveniently located, but without much view or kitchen. (It will be hot; you can prepare salad, sandwiches, and fruit in any hotel room.) See also resources listed by the Sorrento Tourist Office.
