We just spent an enchanting week in Pienza staying at Cretaiole. We loved everything about it and highly recommend it for anyone who wants to be immersed in the culture and beauty of this part of Italy. The family run farm is lovely and they attend to your every need with loving care. Great place for couples or families. I can't wait to return.

I am planning a trip in 2016 with a few friends. How are is Cretaiole to the nearest village? What are the roads like?

It's about 3 km west/northwest of Pienza via a good, two-lane asphalt road and then south 500 m or so on a gravel road. It was well marked when we were there in September. Also, if you continue down the gravel road, it's a pleasant drive through the countryside and past il rigo where we stayed.
