A couple of great restaurants in Florence

I wanted to recommend three dinner spots in Florence.

The first one was recommended by our Airbnb host. It is called Trattoria L'Oriuolo on Via dell'Oriuolo 58r in Florence. It is a nice neighborhood trattoria away from the throng of tourists. The food was delicious and well priced. It had a nice ambience and I would definitely go again. They also had great wine choices.

We followed Rick's advice and ate at the Mercato Centrale. I highly recommend this. It is fun. Tons of food choices. We sat down at the bar area, ordered some drinks and took turns perusing the many food stalls and then ended up sharing with each other. There were 5 of us so lots of sharing and lots of fun!

Finally, I downloaded the Eat Italy app which Rick talks about and found the restaurant where we ate our last night in Florence. It is called Trattoria I due G. It is not in a picturesque part of town actually very near the train station but we had a delicious steak and pasta. One steak fed 3 of us. Many local types - we might have been the only tourists in there. Anyway, food was delicious. It is small, quaint and unassuming. Also, good wine choices here.

Thank you for sharing your recommendations! We will be in Florence in a couple weeks. Mercato Centrale was already on our list, but I will now add Trattoria I due G since it is close to where we are staying. Thanks again!

Thanks for posting. Looks like we'll be going there in Oct, since my husband is speaking at a meeting in Rome(free airfare for him and room in Rome).

I know Mercato Centrale is closed on Sundays. Did you by chance eat at either of the others on Sunday?

I wasn't in Florence on a Sunday. Thanks for posting though. I'm sure that is good info. I didn't know it was closed on Sundays.

The upstairs food court at Florence's Central Market is open from 8:00am until midnight every day of the year except Christmas. It can be a fun experience, especially for groups of people who all want something different, but I find it somewhat pricy. The main market downstairs has more limited hours and is closed on Sundays.

I've eaten at Trattoria I Due G and have enjoyed my meals there, but unfortunately Sunday is the day it's closed. I've not eaten at Trattoria L'Oriuolo, but Google says it's open 7 days a week.

Do not miss Trattoria Il Sostanza for their fabulous chicken dish. Reservations are a must and restaurant is quite small and is located between Santa Maria Novella and the Arno.
