In Manarola, I ate dinner at Trattoria dal Billy on my first night in Manarola in June 2014 after a glowing recommendation from Laurel on the Italy forum. She was right! While waiting for a table, I was treated to a glass of prosecco that was a perfect start to the evening. Being in the home of pesto, I started with pesto pasta, and then I had a grilled fillet of fish - recommended by the staff, and it was spectacular. The service was friendly and welcoming! Ended my meal with a glass of grappa!
In Vernazza, I followed the recommendation in Italy and made a reservation at Ristorante Belforte for one of the few table on the terrazza con vista. What a treat! I was welcomed warmly by name and seated with perfect view of the coming sunset. Again, upon recommendation from my wonderful waiter, Andre, I enjoyed pesto pasta and grilled fish. Andre was such a wonderful host and waiter - he quickly established a wonderful rapport with everyone on the terrace which added to the enjoyment of the evening. The food and wine were spectacular - rivaled only by the view of the sea. Several hours later, I climbed back down the steps having had a perfect evening and made wonderful memories!
