A gentle bump, as I am also interested in Venice restaurant recommendations.

This particular forum is "supposed" to be for reviews rather than for questions. You'd probably get WAY more answers if you actually posted in the correct forum or better yet, go to www.tripadvisor.com and look at the restaurants in Venice that have the best reviews.

Try Da Ivo. Excellent and where the rich and famous go to eat. It's homey and very Italian. On the pricey side, but worth it. Or, Bistrot de Venise was also excellent. Set on a canal between Rialto and San Marco. Great food and service. Everything is always cooked in the season at the better restaurants so it would be hard to recommend anything. I was there a couple of days ago and had the most amazing fried squash blossoms with lobster at Bistrot de Venise and white asparagus with fried egg and truffles at Da Ivo. Yummy!!

A few favorite places to eat:

Fiaschetteria Toscana http://www.fiaschetteriatoscana.it/ - great traditional Venetian cuisine

Da Fiore http://www.dafiore.net/ - the famous & pricey restaurant lives up to its' reputation - amazing

And my favorite...
Trattoria Antica Carampane http://www.antichecarampane.com/ If you like fish, this place is a do not miss! No menu - one price for everything they bring you - it is one wonderful thing after another

And if you go to the island of Burano here is another one: http://www.rivarosa.it/benvenuto.html - rec from a friend of mine who knows good food

In Venice, I would avoid restaurant Trattoria alla Madonna near the Rialto Bridge - poor food & rude service.
