10 days Amalfi Coast

Hello, We are planning on arriving in Naples for the 2020 Pizza Festival. We'll stay 2 nights at the Holiday Inn on points and then make Sorrento our home away from home for 5 days. We plan on taking private day tours both by land and water to Positano, Amalfi, Ravello and Pompee. Take a boat tour to Capri and see blue grotto. We'd like to spend a few days just low key relaxing. Should we plan on staying on Anacapri for those few days after seeing the sights mentioned above with maybe a boat tour to Ischia? Please suggest the best hotel if you think that's a good idea as well as great day tour companies that can take us from Naples to Sorrento, Sorrento to Positano and Amalfi, Ravello & Pompee wiht maybe the addition of Minori Maiori and Praino. Do you think 10 days doing all of this is enough? 2 nights Naples, 5 nights Sorrento, 3 nights Capri/Anacapri (or another beachfront relaxing resort). Also, do you think we should try and take a train to Sicily or will that be too much. Sorry about all the questions but I'm just at the beginning of planning this trip and it is my dream come true. Thanks for your help. Maxine

You should re-post your questions in the Italy forum (you posted yours in the Italy Reviews forum).

You probably don't have enough time to do all the things on your list, never mind Sicily. Stop adding things to your list -- you need to do the opposite.

When you do your planning, don't use vague generalities like "10 days" - post specific dates (and locations) that you would arrive and depart (even if they're just proposed dates at this point), otherwise you risk setting up an unrealistic itinerary and disappointment.

I agree with David, you need to set the dates your going to be in each place and then realize that you often burn a 1/2 day or more when traveling from place to place. The morning you arrive by plane will be usually spent on getting to the hotel and recovering from jet lag. Set priorities on what you want to see the most and make sure those are at the top of the list, then set goals for where you might go "if" you have time in your schedule. The Amalfi Coast is wonderful and your going to have a great time, please write a trip report on this forum when you get back!

Maxine, as above, best to post your questions in Italy forum, how/where you are arriving and departing Italy, and provide exact dates if possible. These can be important details as, for instance, if you are flying out of Naples or Rome, you'll want to spend the night before that flight in your city of departure, especially if that flight is in the morning.

And no, you don't have time for Sicily and may not be able to squeeze some of the rest in but it depends on the ACTUAL time you're going to have. I don't believe there are any "beach" resorts in Anacapri. Capri in general isn't exactly a "beach" destination - a lot of swimming locations are off the rocks or platforms, and I'm unsure about any hotels right ON the few traditional-type beaches. Pools are common at the better hotels. You can explore what's available:

Sorry, can't help with tours as we did our area exploring independently. We did spend a couple of nights on Capri and skipped the Blue Grotto altogether as, IMHO, it's sort of a tourist trap. Didn't feel like we missed a thing!
