Would love hotel recommendations for Ireland and Northern Ireland

We are planning a trip to Ireland for May 2026. Would love some hotel recommendations for the following places:

Dublin - considering Drury Court recommended by Ruth but would appreciate a few more recommendations.
Dingle
Doolin
Galway - also considering Corrib House B&B recommended by Ruth but would love a few more suggestions.
Clifden
Derry
Belfast

We prefer to stay within the $200 - $300 price range. We like hotels, B&B's, and inns. We like to be centrally located and stay within walking distance of restaurants. However, if you know of a lovely place in the countryside but a short drive from restaurants, that would be nice, too, especially if they have great views, ocean views, etc. We will have a rental car so we need a place with parking.

Thank you so much!
Karen

In May 2024, we spent one night at the Atlantic View Guesthouse in Doolin. We stayed one night but wish we had stayed longer based on how nice the owners were. This location was also an easy walk to town and if you were planning on taking the ferry to Aran, also a quick, easy walk. Looking back at my account, the one night cost 135 Euros.

We also visited Dingle - stayed at Dingle Harbour Lodge. Wasn't really impressed though.

Happy Traveling!

Claudia, thanks for the tip. I don't know why I haven't used the search engine. Found some helpful hotel recs.

amyk, thanks so much for the Atlantic View Guesthouse recommendation. I looked it up, and it looks wonderful, and you can't beat the price.

We stayed at the Lighthouse several times in Dingle. Wonderful!! Also twice at the Celi Bhreac in Dingle. A little further out from the village but also great. I know they have new owners now. Also stayed at the Seaview in Doolin which overlooks the town and maybe a five minute walk to the pubs. Enjoy.

Hi Gail,
Thank you so much for your recommendations! I really, really like Celi Bhreac in Dingle. Do you have a preference between that one and the Lighthouse? How long was the walk from Celi Bhreac to the village?

Is the Seaview in Doolin the Seaview Lodge?

Cili is about a mile from town we didn't walk that .. We did walk back and forth to Lighthouse. I loved second floor front room at Cili for great water view and my son loved back room to see the farm and sheep in the morning. We also brought a bottle of wine and cheese and sat on the upstairs balcony at night and enjoyed the harbor and the view. The Lighthouse was great.too but we just had a smaller preference for the Cili. Again they have new owners so check out the reviews. They both have on site parking. I can't remember but I think Seaview is just called that not lodge but we can t remember to be positive. Don't see Seavidw listed in Doolin it might have been Doolin View. I just looked that up and I was wrong it is Dooliin View. Enjoy your wonderful trip. Ireland is magic.

In August 2024 we stayed at The Chancery in Dublin and Sheedy's in Doolin. I highly recommend both.

We stayed at O'Neil's in Dingle. Not luxury but clean, good location, easy street parking, good breakfast, helpful staff and economical.

Gail, thank you! Doolin View looks gorgeous!

Renee, thanks for your recommendations, too. Will check them out!

Gail, how long did it take you to walk into town from Celi Bhreac?

Karen, you might look into the Harrison Chambers (of Distinction) in Belfast. I spent four wonderful nights there this spring. It’s near Queen’s College…nicely located while not in the middle of downtown Belfast. There is parking right behind the building. Their website has lovely photos…breakfast was yummy. All the rooms reflect authors…mine was the Brontë sisters! We’re looking forward to returning.

Cathy, thank you so much. Harrison Chambers looks wonderful. Will definitely consider it. How long did it take you to walk to downtown?

Karen, I was meeting a friend who picked me up each morning, so I really never walked far. There are restaurants nearby because the College is close, and Melanie, who is the owner of the Harrison, could help with great suggestions. You might look at Google maps of the area and plug in walking times to see what you think?
And maybe plug in parking areas where you plan to go.

We also stayed at the Harrison. I agree that the breakfasts were fantastic, and I loved the neighborhood— walking by the Queens College building and through the beautiful botanic gardens in the evening.

My only suggestion would be to select one of the larger rooms. From the photos they look quite spacious. We were in the Van Morrison room and found it much too cramped for two people ( would have been fine for one). There was no place to put our suitcases other than the floor.

We walked to and from downtown. It’s an easy walk — pretty much follow one road the entire way— and mostly flat. I’m guessing the walk took 30-40 minutes, but it could have been less. A taxi to/from downtown would not be expensive if you didn’t want to do the walk.

Holohans restaurant is close to the Harrison and we really enjoyed the traditional food there.

Thank you to Cathy, Ruth and uwe04. I've checked out the Pax House in Dingle, and it looks gorgeous! I could always email the Harrison and ask how long the walk would be. Or we could take a taxi/uber. The Harrison looks like a place we would love!

I also forgot to add that we will be spending 3 nights in Kenmare. Does anyone have hotel/B&B/Inn recommendations?

Thanks to everyone who has responded. This forum is so helpful.

Karen we did not walk from the Cili into town but we did from the Lighthouse about fifteen minutes. I seem to remember it was really dark at night, no streetlights and I think there was macadam sidewalk but we had bought a flashlight so no problems..

Just realized that you asked about Derry as well. I really enjoyed my stay at the Shipquay Boutique Hotel…it’s right in the middle of town, close to everything, including the old city walls (I did an excellent walking tour of the walls!). Not sure about parking…I picked up my car after leaving Derry, so it wasn’t an issue. But the hotel and staff were wonderful.

Cathy, thank you so much for your recommendation of the Shipquay Hotel in Derry. I contacted them about parking. They don't have onsite parking but we can deliver our luggage to the hotel upon arrival, and they will then direct us to several nearby carparks. There is also a multi-story parking garage just outside the walls. The hotel's room rate is very reasonable IMO. Thanks!

uwe04, thank you for your recommendation of Rockcrest B&B. It looks perfect and the price is right!

I loved the Ben View House in Clifden. The room itself isn’t fancy but the house is old and beautifully decorated like grandma’s house. The breakfasts were to die for - have the pancakes. There’s a flight of stairs and street-parking but I never had trouble finding a spot. (I guess Ireland is coming up next after Romania and Budapest?)

If you want a hotel in Galway, the Victoria Hotel is solid.

Hi TexasTravelMom,
So nice to hear from you! I will check out your hotel recommendations.

Yes, we are planning on visiting Ireland in May 2026 for 3 weeks. Before that, we have a trip planned in March to the Caribbean island of Guadalupe with our daughter and her family who live in Texas.

Hope you are enjoying your travels!

Renee, thanks for the Rockcrest recommendation. I have already contacted them with some questions and to inquire about availability. They have availability on the dates I think we will be in Kenmare. I hope to make our reservations soon.

Karen, in case you are still interested in Dublin lodging ideas you may want to look at The Wilder, https://www.thewilder.ie/en/. It's south of Trinity College and St. Stephens Green but still within easy walking distance to both places and the other City Center attractions.

As evidence that I spent too much time in Japan, I read this as ‘Love Hotel’ in Ireland. Oh well, my chuckle for the day….

Stayed in Celi Bhreac in Dingle in August 2023. New owners are a lovely family with young children. Walk into town at night is very dark and narrow. Our family of 9 did the walk once, but would not recommend. During the same trip we also stayed at Greenmount House in Dingle (finding multiple night accommodations for our large group was challenging). Of the two lodging options, our whole group would recommend Greenmount House since it was a trip favorite.

In Galway would recommend Harbour Hotel. Good location, easy parking, spacious and friendly bar and restaurant, easy access to Aran Island Ferries,

kaybird03, unfortunately the Greenmount B&B is not available for one of our nights. Unless I alter my itinerary a bit. I am still tweaking the itinerary, but I hope to start making reservations in the next day or two. Will check out the Harbour Hotel in Galway.
Thanks!

I have to second the vote for Pax House in Dingle. It was our favorite stay in Ireland this past May and definitely in my top three of all time. The owner worked and trained in hospitality all over the world including time at the George's V in Paris. His experience is reflected in every detail of the Pax, but especially the breakfast and his warm demeanor to all his guests.

i have reserved the Pax House in Dingle! The owner has sent me some lovely emails with detailed information about the property and restaurant recommendations.

Have you figured out all your lodging?

The Armada House about a 1/2 hour south of Doolin is very nice.

I second Abbeyglen Castle Hotel in Clifden.

Another favorite of mine in Ireland was the Waterfront House in Enniscrone. It is right across the street from a beautiful beach.
