This may sound like a silly question, but we are traveling out of Dublin, to the southern and western parts of Ireland with Clifton as the northern most city. Should we travel south and then west or immediately travel west to Clifton and down? Thanks much, Martha

When we went, most of what we wanted to see was in a somewhat logical path from one side of the island to the other, around the outer part, not so much in the middle (although we did drive a lot and just meandered in some spots and purposely got lost). We flew into Shannon and out of Dublin, doing the southern loop on our first trip, then flew into Dublin and out of Shannon and took the northern route three years later. Thankfully our trips were nearly 20 years ago (yikes) and we traveled in February so there were no other tourists to speak of.

That depends on when you’re traveling. I usually go in the direction where daylight hours are longer for example as the days get shorter, I would go north first. A good way to calculate this is: https://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadd.html.
