Looking for flights for the Rick Steves Best of Ireland tour. Two airports pop up in Belfast, for those who have done the trip which one do we fly out of typically? Thanks.
I was on the Heart of Ireland tour in 8 Days this Sept. and the guide told us for the 14 Day Ireland tour, fly in and out of Dublin. It is an easy train ride from Belfast to Dublin. I was thinking of the 14 day tour at one point, and in researching flights from Belfast to Atlanta, it was unbelievable to me how long it would take and the connections. I thought our Guide's advice made a lot of sense.
Also, you might call the RS office and ask them for their opinion.
Have fun, my trip was wonderful - I know you will love the 14!
Thanks for the good advice, will research all.
You should search for both airports when looking for flights. Either pick one and make sure to check "include nearby airports," or put in "BFS, BHD" (without the quotation marks).
A great trick I learned from this Forum: to see who flies nonstop from an airport, look at the airport's Wikipedia page. Here's the list for Belfast City: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Best_Belfast_City_Airport#Airlines_and_destinations
and Belfast International: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belfast_International_Airport#Airlines_and_destinations
