We are meeting our son in Dublin for s 4 day visit. Would like to get an airbnb or VRBO. Which area of Dublin do you recommend?

Do you like being in a quiet area? One where there is a lot to do? one that allows walking to most touristy sites etc?

Probably central. We will not have a car. 2 full days, and a morning. Our son will stay one more day. I am not familiar with the neighborhood references...

I have stayed in the Temple Bar area once and the Docklands twice. Temple bar is very lively so if you are looking to have a lot close by and easily reachable, I would recommend it. The Docklands were still walkable to temple bar and major tourist attractions but took 15-20 minutes and did not have late night restaurants etc. Much quieter area.
I really like the Docklands myself

Try Buswell's. It's centrally located in an area near museums, and is quiet and just plain lovely. Highly recommend.
