What to see in our 9 days!

My husband and I (age 58 and 55) will be in Ireland the first part of June and have set our itinerary based on time to enjoy being there rather than run from sight to sight. We don't mind walking, and would appreciate suggestions on things to see in/around each of our stops and in between. We will have a car, and all B & Bs have been booked, so we are set for that. I look forward to hearing your recommendations. We are more interested in the countryside, hence only one day/night in Dublin. We'll save it for the next trip!

Arrive in Dublin and drive to Galway for 2 nights
Drive from Galway to Kenmare for 3 nights (Ring of Kerry, Kilarney National Park) *someone needs to convince me to stop at the Cliffs of Moher!
Drive from Kenmare to Ardmore for 3 nights (Cork, Waterford)
Drive to Dublin for 1 night then home.

I won't convince you to go to the Cliffs of Mohr. It's a lovely hike but not all that spectacular. But then I live in Oregon and the scenery is spectacular wherever you look. My husband and I went to Ireland a couple of years ago and our favorite day was an excursion to the Skellig Islands. Absolutely fascinating. But don't go if you are afraid of heights as its a steep climb up with no handrail. Didn't bother me though. Google it.

"soak up the culture" hmm? Suggestions: In Galway go to the Kings Head pub for Irish music as served up to the local college age population. At Killarney National Park take the tour of Muckross House to see how the English landlords lived over the Irish tenants. If you will be in Waterford go to the Museum of Treasures to appreciate how the Vikings affected Ireland and how Ireland then evolved. In any small town, find a pub around 9 pm, stick your head in the door and ask "is there Trad tonight?" If so, buy a pint and sit down. Repeat as needed.
