What to pack/wear for trip from Jul. 31st to Aug. 7th?

I overpack too. I just wore my regular walking shoes in Ireland in August a few years ago. I mean unless you are trekking and hiking from location to location...I notice in pictures I just have on a light weight jacket, but am wearing my Ireland purchased scarf. Not sure I needed it as much as I was excited to wear it since I'm from SoCal.

My son studied abroad one summer in Ireland (2019) and purchased an authentic Aran sweater, but it was way too hot for him to wear it in Ireland in the summer. So it's never been worn!

From your previous posts it seems like you don't plan on hiking or otherwise be outdoors for extended periods on unpaved surfaces. So no, I don't think you need waterproof shoes, especially if you have a spare pair of shoes in the event you find a big puddle to step in. I suspect it will be cooler and windier in Inishmaan than in Dublin so how many pairs of pants you need may depend on how long you'll be on Inishmaan.

It’s unlikely to be hot enough in Ireland fo4 any length of time to need shorts, especially this year when we’re having an extended visit from the Jetstream. Long trousers should be fine

Look at your accommodations and if/when laundry will be an option. For a week, I'd try to do it without, but only if I can get it all into one suitcase. If somebody already has waterproof sneakers (a lot of brands do Goretex these days), I would take them, but I would not worry too much unless you are hiking.
I always look at the weather stats for each place I will be staying on Wunderground website, then check ten-day forecast before finalizing the packing.
