What Dublin Train station?

I will be traveling from Dublin to Belfast for the day late in November. In Dublin, I am staying at Bushwell's Hotel. There are several train stations in Dublin, which one would be best when coming from Bushwells? Connolly, Heuston or Pearse?

Also, train seats are Economy, Semi-flexible and flexible. What is the difference between these three choices?

If you're going to Belfast, the best station is Connolly since that is the only station with trains to Belfast.

There is no difference in the seats between the 3 types-
Economy (Low) is change or cancel until 48 hours before travel (should suit most people), Semi Flex until 24 hours before travel, and Flexible until 60 minutes before travel.
If you go to Pearse you would catch the DART suburban train to Connolly.

From Buswell's Hotel, if you look at the LUAS tram/Dublin suburban rail map on line you will see that you catch the Green line LUAS northbound 2 stops to O'Connell GPO, walk round the corner to Abbey Street LUAS stop and take the red line eastbound (towards The Point) 2 stops to Connolly. Get familiar with that map and you will have no problems.

Or you could take a taxi or Uber. Less than a ten minute drive from hotel to train station. It's about 1.3 miles. Easily under 10 Euros.

The taxi wins. Great idea. at 7AM, I don't want to start learning the public transportation system of Dublin for a 7:30 train.

I learned the idea of taking a taxi in Dublin the hard way.

I had to get to Heuston Station. (By coindence, I was also staying at Buswell's.)

I waited at the bus stop. Two buses passed by me without stopping. The driver saw me, smiled and kept going. (One even gave me the two finger salute.) They were not full.

I finally hailed a cab and was there in no time.

Frank, had anyone told you that you need to stick your hand out to request the bus to stop? You wouldn't be the first visitor to fall foul of that one unfortunately.

Yes, I stuck my hand out.....made eye contact with the driver.....and they kept going.

It's not the first time I'd ridden a city bus.

Oh dear, definitely a good time to grab a taxi in that case.

We'll be arriving in Dublin (from Dallas, Texas) at 09:45 on May 25th and plan to take a train to Galway later that morning.

What's the best or most expedient way to get from the Dublin airport to Heuston Rail Station? And is it realistic that we could make it there for the 11:25 train from Dublin Heuston to Galway Ceannt? (There's a 13:30 train if not.)

There is a direct bus every half hour, or taxi.

It is possible, but unlikely. Better to book the next train or one of the three companies who run direct buses from the airport to Galway

Thanks, isn31c!

My wife & girls are really keen to ride a train in Ireland, so we'll probably shoot for that 13:30 from Heuston to Galway.
