Wexford Town Daytrip - affordable day trip

Morning everyone, can I just suggest a affordable day trip to Wexford Town.

Irish rail have been doing a reduced fare of 12 euro to Wexford Town once it is booked online at least 4 days in advance of travel. The train runs along the coast line from Dublin Connolly or Pearse Street through Wicklow to Wexford and is a lovely journey of about two and a half hours.

Wexford is a beautiful town with narrow streets. We also have the National Heritage Park here where you can see how we lived through the ages. The Heritage park is about 3 miles out of town but there is a new public bus service "Bridge loop" operating daily and it leaves from a stop just cross the road from Wexford trainstation.

Thanks, Alan! If we wanted to know more about visiting Wexford with our own rental car, are there certain websites or other info sources you can recommend?

Sorry for the delay, visitwexford.ie is a great resource to help plan things, they are also on facebook.

Dublin to Wexford will be even easier to access by car in a few months time as they are opening a motorway extension to bypass some villages and enniscorthy.

If you have any queries about wexford pm me and ill try and help as im living there.

Thanks, Alan, the https://www.visitwexford.ie/ site is wonderful! Also glad to know about the upcoming motorway extension.

I am curious about the annual opera festival. For example, is it difficult to get tickets? Do the lodging prices go way up during the festival? The opera theatre looks like a plain black box from the outside, doesn't it? Is it more architecturally interesting on the inside?

Tickets for the 2019 Opera festival are now on sale, accomodation is at a premium at the Weekends, and you may get more affordable accomodation midweek. It runs this year from Tuesday 22nd October to Sunday 3rd November.

The schools break up here for the halloween midterm break on Friday 25th october to Monday 4th November and Wexford is a popular family break destination so this adds to the accomodation shortage.
