Westport and Dublin Restaurants

I have 2 nights in Westport, and I am looking at three restaurants - all seem to have very good credibility and lovely menus. Can you provide feedback on these, or perhaps rank them 1-2-3? I did consider JJ McSweeney, but think I will just go there for a pint.

1) Cian's on Bridge Street
2) Sage
3) An Port Mor

I have 4 nights in Dublin and am leaning towards the following:

1) The Brazen Head
2) Marco White
3) Klaw
4) The Winding Stair

Please note, I have no car, will be using public transportation or walking, though I am not adverse to a taxi here and there. I will be centrally located in both places, so centrally located restaurants are preferable.

Thank you!

I almost posted this query myself! I responded to your earlier post about restaurants in Ireland too. I like the way you plan and looked up some of your restaurants ideas.

We made a res at Sage and An Port Mor based on reviews. I find it odd that An Port Mor isn’t even mentioned in Rick Steve’s book though. Cian’s just didn’t make my cut but I’m not sure why. Both responded immediately to my emails requesting a booking. We will go early to get the early bird pricing that seems to be common all over Ireland.

We hope to bike the Western Greenway a bit to work off some of these meals!

When do you go? We are in Westport two nights 10/2 and 10/3.

Are you in Dublin? Our air bnb host gave me detailed list of his fav restaurants. I can pm them to you if you’re interested.

Thanks for the suggestion, RCA! I liked seeing that they ask for 20 minute waiting time for Prawn Risotto - meaning they cook it to order. I'll give it a visit if Italian food is calling to me during my journey. Regards, Mary

We really enjoyed the Brazen head. I also would consider Gallagher's Boxty house. It has lovely boxty
