We’re thinking of a quick 2-3 nights trip to Westport when we’re in Ireland this summer. Any recommendations for hotels? We’ll likely be coming by train from Dublin.
I do not recommend the Wyatt Hotel. The noise factor was extreme. When it wasn't music from the pub, it was hotel staff standing right under our window at 2 am in the morning having loud conversations on their cell phone and smoking. If noise doesn't bother you, I suppose it would be okay, but the noise from this place made me very sad I had ever reserved a room there.
We stayed at Clooneen GH last May which was quiet, comfortable, and served a good breakfast. A few blocks from the town center. Our standards are ensuite, full breakfast, and parking. Noise, condition, and comfort are always a crap shoot.
We loved the Clew Bay Hotel…we enjoyed the location…easy to walk everywhere in town, and parking just behind the hotel. Lovely little bakery/restaurant across the street.
Edited to add that the hotel is a five minute taxi ride to/from the train station.
Thanks a million everyone. We booked Clooneen House .
