I am traveling solo, without a car, and am looking for good day tours to see sights in the Dingle and Galway areas (cliffs, slea head, and other significant sights). I will be staying 3 nights in Dingle and 3 nights in Galway. I will be there in mid-August. Also, should I make reservations before I depart (like now), or when I arrive? Thanks!

Our family used Galway Tour Company(www.galwaytourcompany.com) in 2012. Their tours to Cliffs of Moher & Burren and Connemara & Cong met our needs quite well. They will pick you up and drop you off at your b&b.

For the Dingle area, I would highly recommend the Slea Head Tour with Denis Ryan of Dingle Tours. We spent a half day with Denis, he drove his car, freeing us to see the sights, and learned a lot about the area. You can return to Dingle via the Conor Pass if you like, he lets you tell him if there are specific sites you'd like to see and learn about. You can also do a full day tour. I did Dingle with Sciuird Archaeology Tours and really like Tim Collins. He is a retired Dingle police man. Since you are there in August I would book early or now. That's high season. He doesn't have a web site but here's his number 011 353 66/915-1606 or ask your hotel in Dingle to book it. For Galway to tour the Cliffs and the Burren try the Burren Wild Tours www.burrenwalks.com or try these 3 companies: Lally Tours, O'Neachtain Tours and Galway Tour for a fuller all day excursion. Also, consider going to the Aran islands. You can do that on a public bus from Galway. That was a highlight for me.
