West coast of Ireland in February

Hello -- I'm on my way to Dublin tomorrow, then renting a car after a few days and heading west. Music in Dingle, then a music festival in Doolin, and Cliffs of Moher, the Burren. Clifden looks wonderful. It looks like a lot of places, attractions will be closed. I wonder if it's unreasonable to take a ferry from Doolin to the Aran Islands in this season. I'd like to do some walking and expect there will be rain (that's okay, I'm getting out of sub zero weather and snow). Regarding preparing for rain while also packing light- Do people bring rain boots and umbrellas? Or just have damp feet, change socks a lot and keep their shoes by the fire?
I would love to hear any suggestions for things to do in this season. I have a week with the car. Thanks
