Doing the Heart of Ireland trip next June 23-30 2019, was watching the RSE videos filmed in July and people are wearing Irish sweaters and jackets, can anyone travelled in Ireland in late June weigh in on the truth about the weather at that time? Thanks, looks like we may have to make a trip to Eddie Bauer for some warm clothes
We were there mid-August and wore a light sweater + waterproof rain jacket at times. The trick is to layer. When the sun comes out, short sleeves are fine. We never wore shorts, but capris were comfortable at times.
This website makes guesses based on the past. Explore the info thoroughly. You can look at more current information as you get closer to trip time. Scroll down to More About Ireland to find actual forecasts.
Wunderground.com has actual day-by day temperature data going back years. Choose History > Monthly and select June 2018 from the pull-down blocks. Then look at June 2017, June 2016, etc. That will give you an idea of the range of possibilities. Remember that if you're looking at the daily high temperature, that's not what you will have at 8 AM or 8 PM.
June of 2015 was maybe the wettest and coldest on record. June of 2018 was maybe the hottest and driest.
June of 2019 will probably be somewhere in between.
Pack plenty of light layers, including a rain jacket, hat, and waterproof shoes. You'll be ready!
We just finished the two week Ireland on July 6th. We looked at past and present weather conditions, and packed accordingly. What we didn't expect was a heat wave and discussion of water rationing. The raincoats and long sleeves were stored in bottom of our luggage, and we washed our short-sleeves every few days.
