Hi All! I have done some google searches, but waa hoping to hear of first hand experiences. We are looking for names of hiking/walking tours or guides in Cork and Kerry (beara, Kerry, and dingle peninsulas) that do day hikes, or brief overnight hikes (1-2 nights minimum, not 8 nights), either guided or self guides, small locally owned would be great. We've had some suggestions for a few hikes here and there... but we were contemplating doing an overnighter. So even suggestions on company's or B&Bs that would hold our luggage or allow us to park our car for a day or two, take us back to it, or move it for us, etc. We will only be taking a small backpack each, less than 20lbs, no large suitcases etc. We are headed over mid October of this year, for our 2nd trip, and will be concentrated from kinsale along the southwest to dingle peninsula.
Biggie,
Hello.
In 2010, I walked the Dingle Way for 100 miles and enjoyed every second of it. I contracted with Southwest Walks Ireland, which did a couple things. They found me reservations at B&Bs for seven nights. And the service allowed my backpack to be transported from hotel to hotel.
The company has apparently changed its name to Ireland Walk Hike Bike. Here is the site: https://www.irelandwalkhikebike.com/. They offer a number of options.
If you want hotel names, I could send the names later because they're buried in a box, but Ireland Walk Hike Bike will take care of this.
I also hiked 100 miles of the Wicklow Way in eastern Ireland in 1999.
Regardless of the hike you take, you should enjoy your time. The scenery in both Dingle and Wicklow were superb. I loved going through small Irish towns that few see. I walked across hills, beaches, farms and even a mountain. On Dingle, I climbed across Mt. Brandon, Ireland's ninth tallest peak. The people were wonderful.
Cheers.
