Walking times around Dublin--St. Stephens to Temple Bar area, Connolly St., Guinness Brewery, Liffey, etc. Thanks.
Try Google Maps. Enter your two desired locations as From Here and To Here. Then click on the walking figure . You'll get times and distances for walking. Drag your two points to get different routes.
Also take into consideration the fact that you'll probably want to stop and admire the view, take photos, pop into an interesting shop, etc. And there will be crowds filling the street / pedestrian thoroughfare in some places, depending what time of day you're coming through.
The Liffey runs through Dublin. Do you mean O'Connell Street? St. Stephens, Temple Bar, they're all in central Dublin, the Guinness Brewery is a bit farther west, about a mile from Temple Bar.
You can easily walk around the Temple Bar area & some of the sites close to it (St Stephens Green, Christchurch Cathedral etc) but I'd take the bus to the Guinness Storehouse. The buses in Dublin were very easy to use & fairly cheap too.
For those of us with walking impairments, how hilly is Dublin (city centre, O'Connell Street walk?
Thanks!
I don’t remember this area as hilly. The tram system works great.
Troche- Downtown Dublin is basically flat. The malls and shops have lifts. Penney's has a lift, but it is hard to find. Ask for help. However, going to the Guinness Brewery, Temple Bar, etc. is hilly. It was all my scooter wanted when I went up the hills to St. Patrick's Cathedral, and to the Guinness Brewery. The Temple Bar sidewalks are narrow, broken and crowded. It is also hilly there.
Central Dublin is flat. There are hills as you get away from the center but it's not "hilly" until you are well into the suburbs and even then they're little hills.
Someone can correct me if needed but I believe google maps offline (if you don't have a cellular connection) doesn't give walking directions and times however certain other apps do. I used map me for Dublin. I stayed on the north side of the Liffey and walked to all the places you mention.
