I'm considering taking the ferry from Wales to Dublin the night before my return flight in Dublin.
The trip is in early July.
are these ferries reliable with regards to weather or labor strikes. It's the Stena Line.
Stena haven't had a labour dispute that I can remember really since they took over the old Sealink routes many years ago. The way they source their staff I'm not sure it would even be possible.
I don't even see that as an issue to think seriously about.
As regards bad weather in July that is pretty unlikely. Stena have two ships on the route- the Adventurer and the Estrid.
The Adventurer does have some cancellations in severe weather due to her age, but the Estrid will get through just about anything.
About the only thing which stops her would be it being too windy to berth at Holyhead. I've been on her sisters, the Embla and the Edda in horrendous conditions and they just battle on- they are as steady as a rock, and very Scandi Chic ships as well. I've been in the front seats in the Premier lounge in severe weather, truly spectacular sights but the ships are as steady as anything, really superb stabilisers.
The Estrid does the 9am and 8.30pm out of Holyhead.
Never say never, but the chance of disruption in July is really very minimal.
If the weather was utterly atrocious it would be well forecast in time for you to get a flight over. Although if it was that bad flights may well be affected as well.
This is great information!
Looks like clear sailing in July, but it pays to watch the forecasts as well.
thank you for sharing.
