when we travel, we generally don’t purchase enough to justify messing with the VAT. On our next trip to Ireland my daughter-in-law will be coming and she’s quite a shopper. My question is do you do the VAT yourself (with customs in Dublin) or do you use a service such as global blue or planet?
if you have used a VAT service provider in Ireland, which do you prefer or which has the lowest service fee?
Thank you
It's my understanding that you don't make this determination, the retailer does (someone can correct me if I'm wrong, my experience is in France).
Whenever I've done the VAT refund, I am given the paperwork and never asked if I prefer a provider.........
Last year at Rome’s FCO airport I had the option of using a “global blue” kiosk or being handled by the customer service agent handling vat refunds. I believe that my refund was processed to my credit card. Several years earlier at Dubrovnik’s DBV I received an immediate cash refund.
