Using French euros in Ireland

I usually holiday in France so I have a quantity of French euros in both notes and coins kept for my next visit. But this year I'll be in Dublin for 2 weeks. How likely is it that euros with French motifs will be readily accepted?

A euro is a euro is a euro. Should be no problem.

While some Euro coins have individual countries’ designs on the back, they’re still accepted throughout every country that uses the Euro. The paper Euro notes have the same exact design everywhere, so there’s a chance the currency you acquired in France might have been circulated at some point in its past in Spain, or the Netherlands, Greece, or any other Euro country, and just happened to wind up in France at the same time you were there. Even if you pay with Irish-motifed coins, you might get back change bearing French motifs. Enjoy Ireland!

The Euro is the currency and is used by every country that accepts the Euro. The Euros is the official currency and is used by 25 countries. It is not French euros but just the Euro. At present the euro is legal tender in 19 out of 28 European Union member states.

You will have not problem with the Euro with French motifs on it. And when you receive euros in Ireland after making change you will have not have a problem using those euros in Spain or France or Germany or Italy.

Have a great trip, Ireland is beautiful!

In fact if you look at all those "French" notes and coins you have already accumulated you find that some are from other parts of Euroland. It is likely. I don't know anybody who checks each coin to see where it is from. I just spend them.

Do you use North Carolina quarters in Virginia?

Same thing with Euro. There is no such thing as a Euro that is specific to France. Here in Austria, many of my coins have the Italian images.

While the coins have a national side the notes are identical. There is no way you can tell if you have a French, German or Estonian bank note if you have a new one. For the older ones, it was possible but you had to check the serial number.

Euro coins in all Euro currency countries just all American 50 State quarters are accepted everywhere US money is accepted. Merchants in Mississippi should accept a Massachusetts "Minuteman" quarter even if its a Yankee quarter.

And if you are sneaky you might even pass of an American quarter for a Canadian quarter in Canadian boarder towns.
