Using a driver while in Ireland and Scotland

There are 4 of us planning a golfing and sightseeing bucket list the end of May to beginning of June. We are doing 6 nights in Ireland and 6 nights in Scotland. We really do not want to drive. Has anyone used drivers to take them around. We are staying at Doonbeg for the 6 nights. What would you suggest the best way to get around in both countries? We are all bringing our clubs. Is it easier to just get taxis to take us around and then try to take some guided tours. Thank you for any help or direction you can give me.

Best to all.

Is there a reason you don't wish to drive? It is not difficult to drive. I've driven all over Scotland on two different trips. I was the driver, my sisters were the navigators on one trip. My husband and I took turns driving on our next trip. It didn't take long to get used to driving on the opposite side of the road. It just seems that in your situation a car rental is a better plan.

With 4 adults & luggage & golf clubs, you'll need a fairly large vehicle. Hiring a driver adds one more passenger. Here's an idea: can the four of you get together with your intended suitcases and golf bags, and physically try to fit in a car with space for a 5th person driving?

As another person mentioned on the England forum, a van-type vehicle large enough for your needs is called a "people carrier" in British parlance. If you were to request a "van" it would be an enclosed delivery-type van without passenger windows.
